Hi all

As per the text, we will be having a parents meeting at 6pm on Wednesday 1.2.12. If you find myself, Darren or Kev around the astroturf, we will direct you to either the school changing rooms or a classroom.

Also, our club has a meeting every couple of months to discuss how all the teams are progressing, plus fund raising, events, etc. All parents are most welcome. The next one is this Monday coming (6th Feb) at 7.30 at Tintwistle conservative club (upstairs).

Related to that, Kev will mention this at the meeting, but it's worth repeating - If any parent would consider volunteering - maybe fundraising, writing match reports, recruiting new younger players, serving food when we have our summer tournaments, organising a social event for the team, etc, please let us know. The club is entirely dependent on volunteers. You don't need to know anything about football! It can be as little or as much as you like. I think it will make us a better team if more people are involved in running it in one way or another.

Lastly, myself and Darren really enjoyed watching the lads on Sunday, and it has been nice getting some goals again lately. We are in the middle of a run of games against clubs who are usually near the top of the leagues in most age groups, so we are doing OK. We have been trying to get the boys to be competitive so that we can get hold of the ball, but it has also been nice to see a few different players having the confidence to run with the ball recently.

Cheers, John

Well done to the boys today, what a great effort and an exciting way to win the game! And a lovely goal from Ben as well. I was worn out myself by the end of the penalty shoot-out! Please give them all a pat on the back from me, and tell them we expect the same every week!

As I mentioned, from this Wednesday we will take the squad for training separarely from the soccer school, so it would be great to get as many of them there as possible on Wednesdays. We haven't got a venue for any extra training at the moment, but I will look into the possibility of getting an indoor venue once or twice over the winter if there is enough interest.

If any parents feel they could offer any help - for example with fund-raising, taking flyers round to schools, writing match reports for our website, or organising social events, please let us know!

Finally, myself and my boys went to watch Tintwistle adults team play in a cup game at the astro-turf pitch on Saturday afternoon, and it was very entertaining. Tintwistle played some great football and won 9-1! We had a kick around ourselves before and after the game. They will be playing there most Saturdays for the next few months - try to get along if you get a chance!

Cheer, John

p.s. I will collect in any of those Christmas challenges next Sunday - so try to do as much as you can of it if you get a chance!
